We’ve got something biiiiig lined up at Elephant & Castle... and it’s all happening in the men’s locker rooms. 

 

From 13 April, we’re kicking off a full upgrade. It’ll take around 8 weeks, and things might shift around a bit while we get it done. 

 

Here’s what you’re getting on the other side: 

• Upgraded showers: Completely new setups with better pressure and consistent temperature. Built for quick rinses or longer wind-downs. 
• Shiny new sauna: Fresh build. Better heat. Less “this has seen things”. Ideal for loosening battered muscles, switching off your head and pretending you’re not counting reps for tomorrow. 
• Snow feature shower: There’s more going on than water here. Warm and cold cycles get circulation firing and help flush out post-workout fatigue. Variable pressures ease muscle tension, while lights, scent and sound help dial things down upstairs. You’ll leave calmer, looser, and feeling vaguely superior.
• Ice therapy station: Buckets of ice, ready when you are. Ideal for soothing inflammation, speeding up recovery and testing your tolerance for discomfort (character-building stuff).

Why bother?

Because mixing hot and cold helps your body recover faster, move better and keep you training hard without feeling wrecked. Less downtime. More graft.  

 

The reality check: There’ll be some disruption in the men’s facilities while we’re in there. We’ll keep you posted on what’s in and out of action. 

 

We’ll also have 4 temporary showers running, so expect a bit of a queue at peak times.
It won’t be perfect — but it’ll do the job. 

 

No sweat: you still have access to all Gymbox clubs during the upgrade, so you can keep crushing your workouts wherever suits you.

New floor, new faces, same graft. Short-term faff = Long-term upgrade.
